Werris Creek Public School
Our school population is drawn from the surrounding rural areas and from within the Werris Creek township. Our students are a delightful group and our school has a genuine family atmosphere. The students know and support each other. There is a climate of tolerance, fair play and togetherness within the student body, and a culture of continuous improvement amongst the staff. The school community is very supportive. Succesful programs include our Transition Class (Kindergarten preparatory Terms 3 and 4); work through Early Action for Success with our Instructional Leader, mathematical thinking programs such as Building Numerate Students, a focus on developing literacy skills particularly in writing, involvement in cultural programs such as the introduction of our Kamilaroi language and dance programs and The Leader in Me program. Special features include our beautiful manicured grounds and ovals with a spacious outdoor learning centre, our covered play areas and walkways, our structured student support and enrichment programs and our mobile laptop laboratory.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
