Wee Waa Public School

Wee Waa Public School is situated in the north west of New South Wales, and is part of the Tamworth Principals Network. It serves the community of Wee Waa and the surrounding rural district. With much of this century having been in drought the local economy has been in serious recession. This is reflected in our enrolments which have fluctuated from above 180 down to below 120 during 2016. In 2017 there are 132 students of which 46% identify as Aboriginal and more than 20% of the total school population have identified additional education needs. Equity funding from the RAM allocation provides a range of extra resources including in-class tutors, the latest educational technology, regular academic extension classes, music, visual arts and dance programs, a transition to Kindergarten program and access to both speech pathology and an Occupational Therapy program. We work together to make our school a safe, happy and caring place. At Wee Waa Public, we believe children are offered an excellent all round education. We hold as educators that learning should be challenging, exciting, surprising and fun. Our school should be a place where all children are expected to succeed with their learning. We believe our school should be a place where children wonder, puzzle, imagine, question and think, either alone or with others. We believe our school should respect the past, value the present and aim for the future. It should be a place where everyone is courteous, respectful and safe and where everyone, staff and students are happy to be.
