Tumbarumba Public School is located at the gateway to the Snowy Mountains and has a long, proud history within the community. The school is committed to providing the best possible opportunities and experiences for the children of our community. The school serves a diverse population of rural families in a relatively isolated area. We endeavour to create an environment in which children are supported, encouraged, safe and most importantly happy. The school emphasises the development of skills in literacy and numeracy, promotes and expects good values and focuses on individual needs. We also focus on opportunities for personal development in wider curriculum areas such as sport, music and the arts, both visual and creative. Our school runs strong educational programs including focus on Reading, Accelerated Literacy and Jolly Phonics to enhance quality literacy results. As a result the school regularly achieves excellent growth from Kindergarten to Year 3, from Year 3 to Year 4 and from Year 4 into Year 7. These results place our students in a strong position for success across all areas of learning.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
