Toomelah Public School

Toomelah Public School is a Connected Community school that has an enrolment of approximately 40 students across K to 6, all of whom are Aboriginal. The school is situated in the heart of the Toomelah Aboriginal Community which is located on the NSW/QLD border, alongside the Macintyre River. The school's core values are Pride, Safety and Respect. We strive to promote high expectations, empowerment and a sense of pride and achievement in all our students. To achieve this, school activities have an emphasis on fostering strong home, school and community partnerships and providing quality teaching and learning and promoting a vibrant, energetic and positive school culture. Toomelah Public School takes a leading role in promoting and maintaining the local Indigenous culture. There is a strong focus on Aboriginal education and cultural awareness which includes Aboriginal language and dance. As a Connected Community school, Toomelah Public School is staffed with a Leader Community Engagement to support parent and community involvement in the school. We also work closely with the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and the School Reference Group, who also guide the school principal.
