The Quality Teaching and Learning programs at the school ensures students are afforded every opportunity to achieve their full potential throughout their primary schooling. The major focus areas are Literacy, Numeracy and Information and Communication Technology [ICT]. The school caters for each and every student including the successful integration of students with special needs within the mainstream system. Student progress is tracked using an outcome-based approach with reporting to parents formally occurring twice a year. Successful student welfare policies are designed to recognise student achievements in all areas of their schooling. Our discipline policy provides strategies that lead to self-discipline and self-motivation. We encourage the school and home to work co-operatively to provide meaningful child-centred education. At Tomerong Public School we value the input and active participation of parents and carers in their child's learning and development. The school has Interactive Whiteboards in every classroom to support learning across the school. A Connected Classroom set up allows students to connect interactively, both visually and auditory with other schools locally, within the state, nationally and/or overseas. Information Communication Technology is incorporated into all Key Learning Areas to support student learning. As well, staff regularly access the Connected Classroom for professional learning and development opportunities. The wearing of school uniform is strongly supported by the school community. This assists in promoting students' self-esteem and the continuation of a positive school ethos. Tomerong Public School values parent involvement and has a small but very active P and C. This enthusiastic group of parents seek opportunities to support student learning by raising funds for a variety of extra resources for the school and students. Tomerong Public School has a Healthy Canteen operating two days per week. Manned by volunteers the canteen provides a variety of delicious and nutritious food options. It is extremely well patronised by both students and staff. Being a small school, Tomerong Public School prides itself in knowing all its students and families thus ensuring positive relationships are fostered and maintained throughout the student's educational journey.
