Tinonee Public School

Tinonee Public School has a proud history dating from 1859, we enjoy a picturesque setting overlooking the Manning River. Our school boasts a beautiful hall with a stage, encouraging performances in the creative arts. Our parents, students and staff take pride in the achievements of the school and work closely together to encourage our children to become valued members of the society in which they live in local, national and international settings. A strong partnership exists between the school and the community ensuring that the programs we offer meet the needs of all. A variety of academic, social and physical experiences are provided in a supportive environment. The development of each student to their potential is the focus of our school. We aim to provide a happy and safe environment where children are self-disciplined individual thinkers, motivated, take pride in themselves, their community and our nation and are well equipped to succeed in a rapidly changing society. Our experienced and committed staff members develop and implement extensive and effective teaching and assessment programs providing detailed individual student data focussing on results obtained from ongoing assessments throughout the year. External yearly assessments assist this process. Very close ties exist between our school and our local pre-school, assisting with an extensive transition to school program. Our school provides a well-informed school community with a wide range of school-based data, which allows everyone to track individual student progress. Student's reports are issued at the end of Terms 2 and 4 and parent/teacher interviews are available to keep parents well-informed of their child's progress.  Our students have the opportunity to compete in all levels of sporting competition at local, regional, state and even national levels, in a wide range of sports. There is a strong emphasis on technology through our participation in programs such as Murder under the Microscope, Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Science challenges. Technology in our school is supported by a well-equipped computer room with Interactive Whiteboard technology and computers in all classrooms. Other significant programs include; our school band, guitar group, dance troupe, peer support, choir, public speaking, the Tinonee Reading Club, the Premier's Spelling Bee and the Premier's Sporting Challenge. We are a KidsMatter school.
