Our staff, students and families work together as a learning community who share the responsibility of improving learning outcomes for all students. Dedicated and trained staff provide quality educational opportunities for all students in a safe and supportive environment. Programs such as Accelerated Literacy, Best Start, MultiLit, Reading Recovery, Targeting Early Numeracy and Italian Community Language support student learning. We facilitate a successful transition to school for our youngest learners through the Little Learners program. All students have access to current technology in the classroom with interactive whiteboards and computers, a fully equipped computer lab and our Connected Classroom with video conferencing capability. Online learning is promoted though programs such as Reading Eggs, Studdyladder, Edmodo and Lexile Reading. Our school enjoys its semi-rural setting and also its active partnership with the Cowpasture Community of Schools. We work together with these seven other local schools (Austral, Badgerys Creek, Bringelly, Horsley Park, Kemps Creek, Middleton Grange and Rossmore Public Schools) to provide support and greater diversity of opportunities for students and staff. Shared activities across the community of schools include performing arts and sports events, spelling, chess, debating and public speaking competitions, student leadership activities and combined teacher professional development. Leppington Public School values its rich and diverse cultural heritage spanning almost 90 years and promotes mutual respect and understanding with currently 60% of our students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English. Our families and P & C actively support learning programs and school events throughout the year. Their partnership in decision making, providing feedback and fundraising efforts are appreciated by the school. Together we are looking positively into the future for our students; with high expectations for them to be life-long learners and caring, committed citizens in their community.

This school’s intake area is changing

At times it is necessary for the department to adjust a school’s local enrolment area. Intake area changes are happening to better balance enrolments, utilisation of assets and capacity across schools, ensuring students continue to have access to high-quality public education.

The Department of Education has created a new shared intake area called the Camden Valley Way Growth Corridor to cater to the unprecedented population growth in Southwest Sydney.

The new shared intake area combines the former intake areas of Denham Court Public School, Public School, and the new Edmondson Park Public School into one intake area. The shared intake area is a tailored solution for this growing area and has been designed to provide equitable access to education for kindergarten to year six students living in the growth corridor.

Which school will my child be enrolled in?

Your child will be offered a placement at one of the following three schools in the intake area are determined by a Camden Valley Way Growth Corridor panel comprised of the principals, or their delegates, staff of Denham Court Public School, Leppington Public School, and Edmondson Park Public Schools and a Parents and Citizens representative:

- Denham Court Public School

- Edmondson Park Public School

- Leppington Public School

The panel will determine all new kindergarten to year six enrolments in one of these three schools following the Local Enrolment Procedures for Camden Valley Way Growth Corridor.

The enrolment panels guiding principle in making enrolment decisions is to keep families together and preference will be given to enrolment applications where there is a sibling in current attendance at a school.

How do I lodge an enrolment application?

If you live within the new shared intake area, please lodge an enrolment application at the school within closest proximity to your home. The enrolment panel will review your application and offer your child a placement at one of the three Camden Valley Way Growth Area schools.

I have a child already attending this school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?

Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending this school.

I have a child already attending this school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?

Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the departments enrolment policy .

Families with a child currently enrolled at their assigned local school will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the intake area boundaries that make their home address out-of-area.

How are new intake areas developed?

Many factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:

- enrolment trends

- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas

- public transport access

- the size and utilisation rate of schools

- the number of students living in each proposed intake area

- and the physical capacity of schools to enrol students

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
