Parramatta Public School

Parramatta Public School is situated in the progressive and expanding CBD of Parramatta, bringing an exciting and dynamic energy to our future-focused school. Our school enrolment is growing rapidly with new students arriving weekly. There are currently 908 students enrolled with 97 percent having English as an additional language or dialect. This includes 44 different languages spoken within our school community. Our culturally diverse community members are involved and supportive of our values and programs and they demonstrate a strong commitment to the education of their children. Our community language is Mandarin. Parramatta Public School has an enthusiastic, dedicated and committed team of teaching and administrative staff. Our teachers have a broad range of experience and talents. They work collaboratively and innovatively to facilitate quality, engaging learning experiences and opportunities for all of our students. A focus for our school is to develop the whole child providing a well-balanced curriculum where students' needs are identified and students are engaged in interesting and challenging learning activities in pursuit of their personal best. The school collaborates with the Parramatta Learning Community (PLC) schools in staff professional learning, leadership capacity building, networking, program development and opportunities to extend students in dance and debating. Parramatta Public School offers a range of extracurricular opportunities including highly successful dance, choir and recorder programs, visual arts, chess, sport, PSSA, public speaking and leadership. The whole school community supports and demonstrates the core values of respect, responsibility, excellence, acceptance, care and teamwork. Our school motto is Education for Life. Before-and-After School Care operates within the school grounds and vacation care is also available. A second provider offers offsite OOSH programs throughout the school terms. New school: Parramatta Public School redevelopment

The project to redevelop the Parramatta Public School is complete. The redevelopment and expansion of Parramatta Public School is the priority project to meet growth in primary student populations in and around Parramatta. It is a unique opportunity to provide a school centrally located in the heart of the Parramatta CBD. The school showcases multi-storey education facilities in response to metropolitan Sydney's increasing student community. The learning spaces are technology-rich to serve multiple learning contexts from large class groups to small clusters, providing better opportunities for collaboration and personalised learning. The department is delighted to deliver this landmark education precinct for students, families and the broader community. A new multi-storey public school for 1,000 students on the original school site. 40 permanent, flexible learning spaces and support areas. Modern indoor and outdoor landscaped spaces.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
