Padstow Park Public School

Padstow Park Public School is dedicated to providing a balanced curriculum in order to service the academic, emotional and social needs of all children in our care. We aim to provide a happy, caring and supportive environment which promotes the development of each student's potential. Our school culture is one of respect, tolerance and open communication. The school has a strong academic, sporting and creative tradition and emphasises high expectations in literacy and numeracy. It also emphasises care and concern for every student, the importance of technology in learning, an appreciation and application of the arts and cooperation between the school, home and the wider community, focussing on shared responsibility for learning. The school achieves its mission by developing high quality programs that are designed to improve student outcomes across all Key Learning Areas. Our experienced staff are trained in all current teaching methods and cater for the full range of student abilities within their class. At Padstow Park we offer opportunities for Gifted and Talented students to extend their skills as well as providing support for those students with specific learning difficulties. We regularly send between six and eight students annually to Opportunity Classes at the end of Year 4 and each year 3-5 students are successful in gaining places at Selective High Schools. Some unique features of the school are our wide range of performing arts opportunities and our annual contribution to charities by our students and their families. Padstow Park offers an extensive music program as part of the weekly timetable. Our specialist music teacher takes all classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 for lessons in music composition, performance and theory. Students are also given the opportunity to integrate technology with music through specialist computer programs. In addition to class programs, students have the opportunity to learn violin, join choirs or dance troupes or become members of debating or public speaking teams. The regional choir is based at our school and coached by our music teacher. Every year the students at Padstow Park support two charities with highly successful fundraising activities. Our Bandage Bear Day for the Children's Hospital and our Stewart House Fun Day raise thousands of dollars annually to support these children's charities. Padstow Park has an extremely supportive parent body who are an integral part of the school decision making process and regularly make important contributions to student welfare policies, staff selection and major asset purchases. We have important links to the local community through our involvement with the local RSL organisation and local council activities. We also have a very positive relationship with the local church group that uses our school on the weekends and often engage in joint projects that benefit both the school and the wider community. We strive to achieve Knowledge, Wisdom, Insight.
