Orange East Public School

Orange East Public School has a proud tradition of over 125 years of service to its community. The school achieves its mission, Safe Respectful Learners through students, staff and parents working together to create a family atmosphere for our 268 student population. The core values espoused through the school-wide Positive Behaviour for Learning program are about teaching students respect, safety, excellence in learning, responsibility, cooperation, fairness and participation. Orange East Public School is an integral member of the pre2 learning community, a collaborative venture of 24 public primary schools in the Orange School Education Group. The strength of this collaboration is in its capacity and ability to share expertise utilising advanced video conferencing technology and innovative pedagogy to make a difference for our students. There is an expectation that all students will achieve in a caring, supportive environment. Orange East Public School aims to provide an education in which learning programs focus on the intellectual, social, emotional, cultural and physical development of each child, within the framework of the six Key Learning Areas. Each of the eleven classes has an interactive whiteboard to enhance student learning and engagement to help prepare students as 21st century learners. In 2016, the school continues to make a significant investment in Chromebook and iPad technology to continue to support innovative teaching and learning in every classroom and across a range of programs. The school also has a strong and successful performing arts program which includes dance groups, choir and a whole school production every two years. These activities enable our students to excel and display their creative talents. Extra-curricular activities include a chess program, public speaking, debating, a kitchen garden program and participation in a range of sporting teams where the students have the opportunity to represent the school in cricket, soccer, touch football, rugby league, netball, hockey and AFL. The performing arts and extra-curricular programs are also examples of the school living our core values. Parental involvement and participation are encouraged to create a shared partnership in education. The school is well supported through a strong P&C who have initiated a number of successful fundraising activities. The major annual P&C fundraiser is the East Orange Village Markets which started in 2011. This event has been highly successful in raising funds for the construction of a student kitchen. The kitchen operates in conjunction with our extensive School Garden program and the school has recently joined the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. The P&C continues to work hard to support enhancement of school facilities, particularly playground resurfacing and extensions of play equipment.
