The curriculum is enhanced with relevant excursions, an extensive sustainable environmental program and a creative use of technology. The students at our school have a wide variety of opportunities in the arts, sport and public speaking. The school features dance groups, a choir, weekly music lessons and a vast array of class-based learning experiences. The students are involved in fitness, gross motor activities and a wide range of sporting activities designed to encourage them to enjoy physical pursuits. A feature of the school is the development of public speaking and debating from Kindergarten to Year 6. All students participate in a school-based public speaking program and have the opportunity to speak in front of the whole school. Oakville is a leader in using technology to enhance learning. The school is fully networked with a computer room and computers in every classroom. The use of electronic whiteboards as a teaching and learning tool is a feature in all classrooms, as well as two connected classrooms, which enables video conferencing. The strong, supportive student welfare programs provide a structured fair discipline code which clearly outlines consequences for one's actions. Student leadership on a class and school basis is developed through a Student Representative Council, Peer Support and a variety of class programs. Clear school rules and a zero tolerance for bullying is a feature of the school culture.
