Normanhurst Public School is an inclusive and collaborative community dedicated to meeting student needs. We seek to prepare our students to adapt and thrive in a dynamic society by providing diverse and innovative experiences.Normanhurst Public School has educated children from the local community for over 100 years and prioritises staff and parents working in partnership to achieve the best outcomes for our students. We provide a caring, happy and safe educational environment where dedicated staff plan quality, differentiated educational programs targeted to the specific needs of students. These programs promote a lifelong love of learning and encourage individual development. Our staff includes specialist teachers in the areas of Learning Support, English as an Additional Language and Information and Communication Technology. Students have access to excellent technological resources including laptops, iPads, a computer laboratory and interactive whiteboards in every classroom. Student wellbeing is of fundamental importance at Normanhurst Public School, with staff taking a collective responsibility for students. Normanhurst Public School offers a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities in sport, choir, public speaking, dance, student leadership and environmental education. The school has air-conditioned classrooms, a well-resourced library, large shaded grounds, a canteen and an out of school hours care centre. Our school is welcoming and friendly, with parents and community members providing valuable assistance for reading programs, class activities and fundraising initiatives.

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
