Nords Wharf Public School

Nords Wharf is a wonderful community-focused public school situated on the southeastern shores of Lake Macquarie. We serve the Nords Wharf, Cams Wharf, Catherine Hill Bay and Murrays Beach areas. The school enjoys a strong school culture of inclusion and a sense of community and is well supported by an active P&C. Students have a range of extra-curricular opportunities on offer within the school including band, Starstruck, environmental programs, a broad variety of different sporting activities as well as debating and public speaking. Our school values personal endeavour, teamwork, staff and student wellbeing and community participation. We have highly skilled, dedicated, caring teachers and support staff. Strong working partnerships have been developed between the school staff and the parents and community members. Our students are encouraged to strive to do their best. This is reflected in our school motto, "Forever Onward". Literacy and numeracy development is supported in dynamic classroom environments with classroom teachers, school learning support officers and assistant principals working to support every student on their learning journey. We offer a range of extracurricular options including the performing arts (dance, band, choir, music), sport and excursions (extended, overnight excursions for stages 2 and 3). Our school is well equipped with technology to ensure students have opportunities to develop Information and Communication Technology skills. LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
