Nashdale Public School
Nashdale Public School serves a thriving rural community, ten kilometres west of Orange. Students attending our school, predominately hail from small farm holdings, orchards and vineyards around the Mount Canobolas district. Students also commute from the nearby city of Orange. Our school has grown significantly over the last decade to cater for the many young families who have relocated to the area. We have extensive park-like grounds with lots of open space and activities to play with our friends. The school's programs reflect the high priority of the community for academic excellence in a positive, safe and caring environment. Our highly skilled and experienced staff provide a balanced, stimulating and caring environment for all children to thrive. Students experience a differentiated curriculum that is responsive to their learning needs. Our focus, as always, is delivered through explicit and systematic teaching and continual feedback to students. Teachers allow for individuality to develop through the delivery of a challenging and flexible curriculum that integrates current technologies as tools to enhance learning. Students in Years 3 to 6 benefit from the provision of individual laptop devices (managed at school only) after a focus on iPad applications from Kindergarten to Year Two. Our school has an excellent academic record with student NAPLAN results consistently performing well above the state average. High potential and gifted students are catered for through acceleration, differentiation and the opportunity to access Aurora College in Years 5 and 6. Students apply for this Opportunity Class through the Selective Schools Unit in Year 4. If successful, students enrol in virtual curriculum in Maths and Science for academically talented students. Lessons are conducted remotely and students attend annual "residential camps". Our school enjoys a close relationship with the local community. Parents and community members are heavily involved in all aspects of school and wider village groups and events. Students attending Nashdale have a happy and safe environment in which to learn and grow and benefit greatly from the supportive, family friendly atmosphere. Our wellbeing framework ensures that our "Nashies" are RIPE for learning through our core values (Respect - Integrity - Pride - Engagement). Services around the school to support and enhance family life include; Buses to and from Orange (Orange Buslines) and the surrounding district (Apple City Tours) Out of School Hours care from 3.15-6pm (Cabonne Council) "Little Nashies" preschool on Thursday/Friday (LiveBetter Children's Services)
