Nana Glen Public School

Nana Glen Public School is located on the mid north coast of NSW, 25 km west of Coffs Harbour in the beautiful Orara Valley. The school is in an idyllic setting with a large playground, a full-size soccer/football field, basketball/netball court, fixed playground equipment, a sandpit and quiet play area, a 25 metre community swimming pool adjacent and a large covered play area which we encourage our families to access as a community resource. Our classes promote high expectations while catering for student academic and emotional needs with 5 mainstream classrooms and a Support Class. The school has an experienced and dedicated staff consisting of the principal, 6 full time teachers, extensive SLSO support in every classroom, a full-time Administrative Manager, 3 days a week School Administrative Officer, a community liaison officer and a general assistant who maintains our extensive grounds. The school works closely with our dedicated P and C to fundraise and support every family in our school. By careful planning and effective management, we achieve a school for our students and community that is friendly and caring with a positive school tone, has a high standard of learning in all subjects, offers students additional programs that cater for differing interests and abilities and provides a functional and attractive educational environment. Extracurricular activities include swimming lessons every Friday in Terms 1 and 4 for all classes where a structured swimming survival program for all students is followed, sporting coaching support, debating, public speaking and participation in a variety of sporting pursuits which help to broaden our students' experiences. The use of technology has allowed our students to debate other schools through the connected classroom, create movies for the Film by The Jetty Project, and participate in a variety of current ICT experiences. We promote and implement Emotional Assertiveness strategies with all staff trained in this worldwide pedagogy. Every classroom focuses on high impact explicit teaching practices and the school is an exemplary example for contact across the state, connecting with schools from metropolitan to rural settings to share our expertise and learn from others.
