Murwillumbah Public School was established in 1873 and has a proud tradition of excellence in education. Murwillumbah Primary School is a dynamic and caring school with innovative programs. A family environment is enjoyed with the advantages of large school facilities. Committed staff provide stability and foster respect. As a member of the Murwillumbah Wollumbin Learning Community, the school is committed to quality teaching in all areas of the curriculum. Each classroom is air conditioned and has an interactive whiteboard purchased by the Parents and Citizens Committee. The staff, community and children work together to achieve the best outcomes for all. Our aim is to allow each child to develop his or her full potential with a sense of pride in their achievements. The school has excellent sports and music programs. The children excel in teams and play in the school bands. Sustainable living is a feature of our science program with recycling, growing vegetables and caring for our chickens. Teaching values ensures high expectations are maintained and our sense of community is strong. Nurturing excellence in a caring environment allows our children to become leaders and contribute to the of our country.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
