Mullumbimby Public School
Mullumbimby Public School serves the rural community of Mullumbimby, on the vibrant and picturesque North Coast of NSW. The enrolment of around 250 students is drawn from a wide cross section of families and lifestyles. The school is staffed by dedicated and highly experienced teachers who provide quality learning experiences. Our purpose is to provide a relevant education for today's world in a happy, safe and caring environment - an environment in which children will experience success and develop positive self-esteem, and where children's individual talents, knowledge and expertise can be shared, valued and developed. The school enjoys academic success with students consistently performing above state average in literacy and numeracy. Students also achieve outstanding results in both state and national competitions. A broad range of cultural and artistic activities is offered and the school has a wide and enhanced sporting program. Parent participation is extremely important to our school. Our supportive community values education and our active P and C has input into school decisions, thus shaping the future direction of our school. Parents assist in classrooms and with fund-raising events.
Flood recovery update
The NSW Department of Education is coordinating an emergency response effort that is unprecedented in terms of scale and impact. A large number of schools in the Northern Rivers region have damage to either the entire site or some buildings and facilities.
The local School Infrastructure NSW office has inspected all schools in flood-impacted areas and has removed rubbish, cleaned and secured affected sites to ensure they are safe. Teams are repairing and remediating schools that were damaged during the foods and assessing works needed to rebuild the worst affected schools.
Mullumbimby Public School suffered a significant amount of damage as a result of the flood events with a large number of buildings being inundated with flood waters.
