Mulgoa Public School

Mulgoa Public School is a small, semi-rural school, located 15 minutes from the centre of Penrith. The school was established in 1883 and our attractive grounds and beautiful heritage buildings complement our excellent learning facilities. Our school has a strong focus on literacy and numeracy and leads the mathematics TOWN project across three schools. In 2007 we were awarded two Western Sydney Region awards for outstanding literacy and numeracy programs. In 2009, we received a Western Sydney Region award for outstanding performance in numeracy. In 2012 we received the Director-General's School Achievement Award for Excellence in Student Achievement through Teacher Professional Learning. The happy, family atmosphere at Mulgoa Public School touches all aspects of school life. All children develop strong networks through the grades. This enhances social skills in a positive, nurturing environment. Our small school numbers allow for increased opportunities for student recognition, including opportunities for student leadership roles. Our school offers: small class sizes; computers and iPads in every room; interactive whiteboards in every classroom; two modern video conferencing facilities; air-conditioned classrooms; great extracurricular activities - public speaking, debating, and dance groups; opportunities for parent participation; large shade areas and an extensive playground; a quality curriculum delivered by highly-qualified, experienced and dedicated staff; ongoing professional learning for all teachers to ensure students are engaged in quality learning programs; access to before and after school care; an extensive transition to school program.  Mulgoa Public School is an active participant in the Nepean Valley Community of Small School's Network and he Glenmore Park Learning Alliance, giving access to professional learning and shared activities for staff and students. We have strong programs of student welfare. Mulgoa Public School also offers other creative, cultural and sporting opportunities. In sport we offer Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals organised between our community of four small schools, Sport Gala Days and clinics in Soccer, NRL, Basketball and Cricket, NAIDOC Cup Sports Day. We are an Ambassador School for the West Sydney Wanderers. We celebrate NAIDOC Day and Harmony Day. Our school holds an Annual Science Fun Day. The school participates in the Premier's Reading challenge, Spelling Bee and Sporting Challenge. A unique feature of the school is its participation in a Community of Schools. This collaboration as part of the Nepean Valley Community of Schools (Luddenham PS, Mulgoa PS, Orchard Hills PS and Wallacia PS), gives access to a wider variety of professional learning and shared activities for staff and students. Our membership of the Glenmore Park Learning Alliance allows staff to access an even wider range of professional learning and to build relationships with a wider community. Our school has an active, energetic P&C who support the school through some excellent fund raising ventures. The school plays an important role in the community by maintaining and strengthening links between staff, students, parents and community groups, enabling our school to benefit from the intimacy of a small school within a wider school community. We invite you to contact us for further information or for a tour of the school.
