Mount Kembla Public School

Located in the village of Mount Kembla, our school was established in 1859. We still utilise the old historic sandstone school house and the building that was once the Principal's residence. The school is set in a delightful bushland setting with pockets of native bush at the back and expansive views over the valley at the front of the school. At Mount Kembla Public School we provide a caring atmosphere in which each child is respected as an individual and valued as a member of the school community. Students are equipped to reach their own potential in all areas. A close relationship with the local community and regard for our environment and history are integral aspects of Mount Kembla Public School. The school provides a curriculum that focuses on developing essential skills and values as well as providing opportunities for extension and variety. We have professional and experienced staff who genuinely care for their students, with 'every student being everybody's responsibility'. Being a smaller school we are well equipped to cater for individual needs and our assessment and reporting opportunities are comprehensive. Parents and the wider community are encouraged to participate in various school activities and we are fortunate to have a welcoming and active P&C. Student wellbeing is of priority and we promote the importance of respect, safety and learning within our school rules, supported by actively teaching the Habits of Mind and wellbeing to promote resilience in life and learning. We utilise interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and have participated in a coding program since 2017. In 2019 we are embarking on a STEM robotics program in which we will further develop coding and robotics skills. The village atmosphere of Mount Kembla permeates our school as staff and students work together to achieve positive outcomes.
