Mount Kembla Public School

Located in the village of Mount Kembla, our school was established in 1859. We utilise the old historic sandstone schoolhouse and the building that was once the principal’s residence. Over the years the school has seen the addition of a library, a school hall and a basketball court. The school is set in a delightful bushland setting with pockets of native bush at the back and expansive views over the valley at the front of the school. At Mount Kembla Public School, we provide a caring atmosphere in which each child is respected as an individual and valued as a member of the school community. Students are equipped to reach their own potential in all areas. A close relationship with the local community and regard for our environment and history are integral aspects of Mount Kembla Public School. The school provides a curriculum that focuses on developing essential skills and values as well as providing opportunities for extension and variety. "Known, valued, and cared for" is a core principle in the NSW public education system ensuring that every student's personal story is respected, their wellbeing is supported, and their voice genuinely shapes their educational experience. Our professional and experienced staff take time to understand the learning needs of all students, hold high expectations and build positive relationships to ensure all students feel supported and ready to learn at their point of need. Parents and the wider community are encouraged to participate in various school activities and we are fortunate to have a welcoming and active P and C. Student wellbeing is of priority and we promote the importance of respect, safety and learning within our school rules, supported by actively teaching growth mindset and wellbeing to promote resilience in life and learning. We offer various programs ranging from the sporting fields to creative arts opportunities, public speaking and debating, STEM and robotics programs and a Science Fair, to name a few. The village atmosphere of Mount Kembla permeates our school as staff and students work together to achieve positive outcomes.
