Miranda Public School
Miranda Public is a friendly, supportive and caring school of approximately 260 students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. At Miranda we seek to provide a happy, stimulating and caring environment. Our goal is to develop each child's learning potential, by providing a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences. Our dedicated, highly skilled and motivated teachers develop and deliver a comprehensive program which caters for each student's individual learning needs, abilities and styles. We strive for each child to reach their full potential in the moral, social, academic, physical, emotional and cultural areas. The school has a strong emphasis on diagnosing student's learning problems and extending student's talents. Miranda PS has a well established school guitar group, K to 6 weekly gymnastics, chess and environmental programs. The school is well-resourced with a fantastic computer room and will have interactive white boards in 9 classrooms by the end of 2009. We have strong literacy and numeracy programs including Reading Recovery, 'Count Me In Too' and Best Start. The school is centrally located in Miranda on the western side of Westfields Miranda in Sylva Avenue.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
