Lochinvar Public School

Lochinvar is a unique, small school in the lower Hunter Valley. Our students learn in a supportive and nurturing environment, focussed on student success and family involvement. These values are closely aligned with those of our local community and as a result we have positive relationships among students, staff and parents. We provide a quality learning environment and hold high expectations of student achievement and behaviour. Strong results in National literacy and numeracy tests are evidence of our academic success. We also offer individual and small group instruction to students who may need additional guidance and assistance in literacy and numeracy. This encourages and allows all students to have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential. Our students enjoy a spacious, landscaped playground, climbing equipment and shaded quiet areas. A wide variety of play and sporting equipment supports positive student relationships and encourages children to play together in mixed age groups. The school involves all students in annual athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals as well as providing opportunities for dance, gymnastics, soccer and touch football coaching. We are proud of our comprehensive sporting and physical education program that encourages enjoyment, promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Innovative technology in all classrooms helps build student knowledge, understanding and skills to better prepare our children for the modern world. Students have access to quality online programs in literacy and numeracy and these are accessible at home as well as at school. Computers, netbooks and ipads are an integral aspect of literacy and numeracy group activities in all classrooms.  We have vibrant and active links with our community, parents and local schools and these are continually growing. Our community of schools provides opportunities for combined professional learning, middle years initaitives and Transition to High School activities. Our active parent group support the school through a variety of successful fundraising ventures that have improved the school grounds, equipment and resources.
