Lisarow Public School

Lisarow Public School is a public school of approximately 270 students set in pleasant rural surrounds on the Central Coast of NSW. The school has held a prominent place in the local community for all of its 90 years. The 2018-2020 strategic directions of Curriculum, Comnnections and Capabilities focus school planning on the differentiated learning opportunities for our students. Our school provides a welcoming, friendly environment for students to achieve their personal best. A new state of the art library and three classroom block were opened in 2010. All classrooms have interactive boards, LED touch screens, mobile devices and 30 computers in a specialty technology room. The school has an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic teaching staff who are committed to providing quality education opportunities for all students. Teachers, parents and the local community have developed strong and effective partnerships and work together to enhance the many quality programs provided to the students. The school has well developed intervention and support programs for students requiring additional support including MacqLit and the Intensive Reading Program for students in Years 1 and 2. The school has an active Parents and Citizens Association and School Council which both support the school in a variety of ways. The school provides opportunities for students to be involved in all areas of the curriculum including the Creative and Performing Arts, Sport and Environmental activities. The school participates annually in the Central Coast Dance Festival as well as the biennial Central Coast Choral Festival. A team is also entered in the Premier's Debating Challenge each year with our teams achieving great success. All students also participate in the school public speaking competition with winners participating in zone and regional competitions. The students can also participate in both the Premier's Reading Challenge and Spelling Bee. In sport, teams are entered in NSW PSSA Knockout Competitions in a variety of sports and students also have the opportunity to participate in school athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals. Students also have the opportunity of participating in the Premier's Sporting Challenge. In 2009 the school was awarded the Gosford City Council Environmental School of the Year in recognition of its outstanding environmental programs. In both 2013 and 2014 the school won the Gosford City Council Best Primary/PreSchool Garden. The school is currently implementing Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) as part of the Wellbeing Framework with our school expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best. The Chaplaincy program is also part of the Learning Support Team. Students have the opportunity of participating in the Student Representative Council which meets fortnightly. Our school is a proud member of the Valley Schools Learning Community.
