Kandos Public School provides students with comprehensive educational programs delivered by highly qualified, dedicated teachers and support staff. The school has a friendly, welcoming feel which reflects strong relationships and cohesiveness between staff, students, parents and the wider community. Child centred decision making by a strong leadership team is a feature of the school. School facilities have undergone a major upgrade with the construction of new classrooms, a purpose built library and a multi-purpose hall, providing stimulating learning environments as well as modern performing arts and sporting facilities. The school provides an inclusive, supported environment for special education students in two multi-categorical classes. Funding and planning support is received from both the National Partnership and Priority Schools programs. At Kandos Public School you can expect quality literacy, numeracy and technology programs. A highly regarded student welfare policy based on effective discipline, Virtues, a positive reward system and student mentoring and leadership opportunities is in place. The school has excellent resources across all Key Learning Areas supported by a well-resourced library. A feature is the specialised computer room as well as computers and interactive whiteboards in every classroom. Staff provide opportunities for students to participate in choir, guitar, dance, public speaking, debating, school performance and a variety of both competitive and fun sports. The school consistently delivers innovative school based programs and supports access to regional initiatives for Gifted and Talented Students. Staff are encouraged to participate in programs that cater for different learning styles and foster student engagement. Parental involvement is promoted and celebrated at all levels - in-class , P&C, forums and workshops.
