Junee North Public School
Junee North Public School is one of two public schools which serve the Junee community of 4000 residents. The enrolment of 194 students is drawn from within the town and its surrounding rural area. Junee North enjoys committed and continuing community support, which enhances and reinforces all aspects of school. The school pursues a vision of being a safe, stimulating and creative community school where students learn to live and contribute as respectful and responsible citizens. Junee North Public School has a strong focus on Student Welfare and Good Discipline, which is reflected in the school's positive reputation across the Junee area. Together with K-6 educational programs, this provides opportunities for students at all levels to achieve optimal growth and success. Students are encouraged and provided with opportunities to participate in a variety of cultural programs, sporting opportunities and community involvement for a well rounded education. In recent years Junee North Public has sought to bring about sustainable and meaningful improvement in all areas of student learning, with particular focus on the areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Creative and Performing Arts. Junee North's achievements in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy have been displayed in the level of growth evident between Years 3 and 5 and the heightened number of students working and achieving at the higher levels. In the area of Creative and Performing Arts all students are given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument perform at local, regional and state events . Dance and performance has also become a major part of the schools Creative and Performing Arts Curriculum with the introduction of the Junee North Dance Spectacular. The area of Information Technology has also been an area of great growth at Junee North Public School for students and staff, with all learning areas in the school being equipped with Interactive Whiteboards. The use of the interactive whiteboard technology as a learning tool has now become common place across all classrooms at Junee North Public School, as has the introduction in 2014 of Ipads, of which there are class sets available. The school has continued to build upon the strong Literacy and Numeracy programs already in operation at Junee North Public School and further raise the achievements of the students in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy. All staff are trained in specific programs including L3 (Language & Literacy Learning), Focus on Reading, Targetting Early Numeracy and Taking Off with Numeracy. During 2013 new initiatives in developing enrichment programs were also a focus. Students were provided enrichment through woodwork (offered by the local Men's Shed); Science (conducted by a lecturer from CSU) and Robotics. The underlying strengths of Junee North Public School are the dedicated, committed and enthusiastic staff, the active and supportive P&C and the responsive and motivated students. The school motto of 'Loyal To My School' is reflected by all students, staff and school community members.
