Fernleigh Public School

Fernleigh Public School provides a caring, happy and safe educational environment where children can learn and develop as individuals in a multi-age setting. Classroom learning is enriched through extension programs and other diverse activities offered through our participation in two local learning communities - the 'Plateau to the Sea' and the 'Southern Cross Small Schools Network'. Our school encourages students, parents, staff and the wider community to work together as a team to enhance the learning experiences of all students. We do this through effective teaching, a positive environment, good discipline and community participation. We encourage high parent and community involvement through sports coaching, reading tutors, art lessons, open days and classroom assistance. We have invested in the latest computer technology and have a computer room with a computer for each child in the class. A computer specialist works with our highly skilled teachers to ensure each child develops computer skills that will help them in lifelong learning. Our school has a focus on numeracy and literacy, with an emphasis on individual learning programs. We believe that our small school offers students individualised, highly resourced learning with the highest expectations of individual and collective success. Our small class sizes allow teachers to devote more individual time and attention to students and give students greater access to resources. Effective and extensive support programs are developed for children identified with special needs. These programs are monitored by an experienced learning support team. The opportunity for students to have a voice in decision making at our school takes place through our student representative council, which includes students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Values such as honesty, respect, hard work and kindness are modelled by all at our school. We invite you to come in for a visit to see the great education on offer for your child.
