At Green Valley our purpose is to: "Inspire students to be the best they can be". Some ways in which we do this are outlined below. Our three strategic directions for 2018-2020 are: - Creating reflective, successful learners - Developing Expert Teachers and - Building positive connectionsOur staff and community work tirelessly to bring about improved results for our students.. Green Valley Public School enrolments of 426students including 79% from a non-English speaking background and is in the Liverpool Group of schools within the Ultimo network of NSW Department of Education and Communities. The school has over 40 different languages spoken with the main languages being Arabic, Vietnames, and Hindi. The whole school approach to behaviour management through Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is consistently implemented and clear for all parents, staff and students. Ongoing support for students is provided by teachers of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) staff, specialist teachers of students with additional learning needs via in-class support and withdrawal groups. Parents of our students have high expectations of their children and the school. They support the school through the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) who meet twice a term to raise money to support school programs. The school has a Family Resource Centre funded through the Australian Government via Mission Australia that provides services to families with children from birth to age six. Transition to school programs, links to area health services, playgroups and parent information programs are a feature of this service. Extra curricula opportunities are a feature of the school's curriculum, with sporting and performing arts groups achieving well in district, state, regional and national competitions. Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of additional activities including: •Talented visual artists programs •PSSA sport •Dance groups •Choirs •Music festivals •Aerobics •International academic competitions •Maths olympiads •Chess clubs •Public speaking and debating The school is very proud of the way in which the students work and learn together. Teaching staff provide expert teaching to all students regardless of ability.
