Greenethorpe Public School, situated in the small rural village of Greenethorpe, is approximately 25 minutes' drive from Grenfell, Cowra and Young. Regular bus services transport children to the School from outlying properties as well as those living in the village. Greenethorpe Public School is a member of both the Young Small Schools' and Cowra Small Schools' Groups. Children at Greenethorpe Public School are encouraged to achieve their best, whether this be in the academic, sporting, artistic or cultural domain. At Greenethorpe Public we provide a caring family atmosphere where every child is treated as an individual and our teaching and learning programs are tailored to meet each child's needs. Our school has a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy skills, and children are able to engage in all areas of the curriculum through the use of computer and digital technology. At Greenethorpe Public School all students have access to their own computer, and through the use of technologies such as interactive whiteboards, video-conferencing and virtual excursions students are easily connected to the wider local and global community. Along with our carefully planned classroom program our school offers outstanding music opporunities, and all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 are taught to play the Marimba and are given acces to a wide range of instruments throughout their primary years. We have a specialist Music teacher on our staff who teaches weekly music lessons to all children, who perform regularly at local Eisteddfods and community events. At Greenethorpe Public School we are proud to be educating our leaders of the future, and the formation of our School Leadership Team is an integral part of this. Our Senior students are encouraged to take an active leadership role in various aspects of our school, including running Assemblies, assisting with Kindergarten Orientation, co-ordinating once-a-term Charity events and attending Leadership conferences to build on their skills. Students at Greenethorpe Public School participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and regularly meet with other children from nearby Small Schools for social and sporting events. We are involved in local Eisteddfods, Poetry recitals, PSSA Knockout competitions, Premiers Sporting Challenge, Learning to Lead, Impact Leadership Conferences and local Small Schools academic and sporting challenges. Greenethorpe Public has an excellent sporting record, with students representing at District, Regional and State level in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.
