Granville South Public School

Granville South Public School provides students with quality educational programs delivered by highly qualified, dedicated teachers. Being a medium size and family school, we have many key advantages such as meeting the individual needs of our students, for which we have a good reputation. All staff work as a team to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students in all key learning areas. Classroom teachers and specialist staff cooperatively plan for innovative and engaging learning. Interactive whiteboards are a priority and every classroom is equipped with one. Our attractive large gardens and grounds complement our excellent learning facilities. The wide open spaces provide a platform to promote and explicitly teach sport and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. In addition to our grounds, we have a large community vegetable garden. Of course, the younger students enjoy the playground equipment and sandpits which are excellent for building friendships, while the seniors have two grassed areas and a basketball court to learn social skills. We foster creative arts through our dance group and choir. Both these groups have performed at the Sydney Opera House, which is an outstanding achievement. We pride ourselves on detailed transition programs for our Kindergarten students. Our Kindergarten program is conducted weekly for six weeks. The parents are invited to a variety of workshops to help prepare their child for school. All students are screened by our speech pathologist, occupational therapist, optometrist and specialist teachers. Students are settled quickly and the teacher is able to cater for individual needs. We also have strong links with our local high schools, and are at the forefront of establishing a local learning community for Granville students. Year 6 students are introduced to key personnel at their local high school and as a result there is a smooth transition from Year 6 to Year 7. Our school is welcoming and friendly and we work in close partnership with parents and the wider community. We encourage parents to be active participants in school activities and we value their input into their child's education and school decision making. Our vision is for our community to feel a genuine sense of belonging, where their voice is valued in a partnership of mutual respect, and common goals are worked towards due to the congruence between home and school. A Schools as Community Centres operates on the school site, providing valuable programs for parents, children and the wider community. Granville South Public School provides a quality curriculum in a caring environment in the form of a curriculum where every child is able to achieve their personal best in academia, cultural and sporting endeavours.  Our purpose is for our students to develop the knowledge and skills to be independent, responsible and confident citizens. All staff create a culture of continual learning and reflection through collaboration to ensure quality teaching and learning. Students learn to think critically, learn to problem solve and self-direct their learning, resulting in becoming life long learners. We maintain a focus on our core business of teaching and learning by differentiating teacher professional learning and dedicating quality resources so that students are engaged in school life and optimum learning occurs.                                          GRANVILLE SOUTH IS A PLACE WHERE EVERY CHILD MATTERS AND EVERY MOMENT COUNTS.
