Goolgowi Public School
The mission of Goolgowi is to facilitate the academic, cultural, physical, emotional and social development of all children so that they are encouraged to become self-motivated learners who can work independently and co-operatively. There is an expectation that parents and teachers work together and that students all strive for excellence. The school community encourages children to accept challenges and develop positive attitudes about themselves, others, their environment and their heritage. Our mission is achieved by the implementation of programs such as Count Me In Too, Accelerated Literacy, Peer Support, Support Teacher Learning Assistance, Live Life Well and Crunch and Sip. Achieving above the State average in the NAPLAN tests, students are encouraged to participate in a broad range of activities such as sport, public speaking and art. Students experience different cultures through school performances and participation in the CWA Country of Study. Goolgowi, while an isolated rural school, enjoys close links with its parent body and remains a focal point of the town and wider community. The school's environment and friendly atmosphere allow the students to feel comfortable and safe within its boundaries.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
