Gerogery Public School
Gerogery Public School serves the community of Gerogery and surrounding properties, with all of the children travelling to school via the local bus service. The school is set in picturesque surroundings, with large shady trees and neatly presented gardens. The children of the school are fortunate in having a three hectare field adjacent to the school, which is used for environmental education, which includes a newly established vegetable garden and fruit orchard. Gerogery Public School aims to provide all students with quality teaching and learning programs. The staff are committed to further developing their knowledge of the curriculum through inservicing and professional development and therefore expects all children to strive to achieve their personal best. The school takes great pride in its academic, welfare, sporting and cultural programs. It has an active parent and citizens committee that meets regularly each month to raise funds. Gerogery has a strong link with schools throughout the world, in particular Lark Rise Lower School in Dunstable, England, Stronie in Poland and Gustaf Dreyer School in Berlin. In 2009 five students, two parents and two teachers from Gerogery travelled to England to spend two weeks with our sister school during our Easter break. Here we spent time working in class with our e-pals in lessons that help the world become one. We are currently in our first year of Early Action for Success, which provides Instructional Leadership to assist in the raising of students results in Literacy and Numeracy. The school is excellently equipped in all curriculum areas through books, technology and current resources. Both classrooms have interactive whiteboards and we have a school facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GerogeryPublic School. There is a computer ratio of better than one per student. This allows our technology lessons to further challenge our students. The school is a focal point of the Gerogery community and is actively involved in all town events from Clean Up Australia Day to tennis and drama productions in the town hall. Gerogery Public School is a caring, nurtured school where all children are able to strive to do their best.
