Five Dock Public School

Five Dock Public School was established in 1861 and has always been an integral part of the local Five Dock community in the inner west. At Five Dock PS we foster a learning culture of high expectations for academic excellence. Students are nurtured in an inclusive environment to develop a strong sense of belonging, creating curious, empathetic, resilient, reflective and active learners. We are committed to forging collaborative community connections that promote a shared responsibility for student learning and wellbeing. We are proud of the diverse and inclusive nature of our school, which includes a Support Unit with four classes and a Department Preschool with two classes. Five Dock PS seeks to provide varied extra-curricular activities to students in creative and physical domains through sport and art with opportunities that exist to participate in PSSA sport, gardening club, debating, public speaking, choir, dance and a school band. This supports the development of the whole child and contributes to improved confidence, wellbeing and sense of belonging. The school's vegetable garden provides our students with the opportunity to learn about sustainability. The community of Five Dock PS prides itself on a philosophy of inclusivity, promoting and celebrating the diversity that exists. There is a shared understanding on the part of all staff that every child is an individual who needs to have opportunities to realise their potential. Our school strongly encourages all parents to become engaged in the education of their children to foster positive learning and wellbeing outcomes so that students’ social-emotional competencies increase and long-term outcomes improve.
