Dora Creek Public School, located in South-West Lake Macquarie, is a school rich in tradition and quality education; and one that continues to be held in high esteem by the local and wider community. In 2020, it will have served the community of Dora Creek for 150 years. The school has a highly committed staff who place significant value upon promoting a safe and empowering environment for our students. Student well-being is an identified focus area and the school promotes high expectations for staff, students and community. Authentic assessment, accelerated literacy and future-focused learning are school priorities. Student progress is monitored closely, and parents are valued and active members of the school community. The school motto is ‘Truth and Honour’ and the school strives to provide students with the foundations for lifelong learning. Dora Creek Public School is a proud member of the Western Shores Learning Alliance and interacts proactively with this community of schools. All staff are committed to providing students with the skills, knowledge and values necessary for success in education, and in life; underpinned by quality wellbeing philosophies. The school continues to focus on the quality of student outcomes in literacy, numeracy and engagement; catering for a broad range of activities in performing arts, cultural awareness, leadership, sporting, environmental and academic pursuits. Our students perform well in the sporting arena, with a proud history of regional and state representation. Technology supports our teaching and learning programs, with all classrooms fitted with IWBs and a Connected Classroom available for all.
