Concord Public School

At Concord Public School, catering to the individual needs of the whole child is our priority. Our vision is believing that strategic collaboration within and beyond the school will inspire, engage and challenge our students to become confident, creative, innovative and critical life-long learners. Concord Public School is a school of great traditions. It has long served the local community having opened in 1880, the same year as public education was officially established in NSW. The school buildings have a heritage listing and are surrounded by green, lush and well-kept grounds. The school provides students with opportunities to participate in student leadership, inter-school sport, dance, choir, public speaking and debating. The choir and dance group perform regularly at school events. Other significant programs offered include: Community Language Program (Italian); English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) program; and the MultiLit, MiniLit, MacLit and InitialLit programs. Our Italian program is integral to the school curricula. It enables all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 to learn a second language for 2 hours every week, including the integration of technology. The students have ready access to technology to support their learning across the Key Learning Areas through a well resourced computer room, laptops, iPads, library computers and digital camera equipment. Collaboration with the local high school allows students to attend specific subject lessons and events on a regular basis, including Science lessons, Gifted and Talented programs, English programs, drama and lessons in Physical Education. The school community is culturally and linguistically diverse with many students from non-English speaking backgrounds. In 2024, Concord Public School received a School Excellence State Award for the International Student Program. The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a very supportive and active part of the school community, working in partnership with the school on specifically targetted areas. The Before and After School Care facility (COOSH) operates on the school grounds, supporting working parents.
