Comboyne Public School

Comboyne Public School is an innovative school which actively seeks out positive educational opportunities for the students from a wide variety of sources. The school has a strong practice of assessment and teaching programs in literacy and numeracy that address individual learning needs in the classroom and in learning support programs. All teaching and support staff fully and consistently engage in professional learning to support our school plan. A unique feature of this school is the low ratio of students to teachers and highly individualised literacy and numeracy programs. Comboyne is a beautiful school, with excellent playgrounds and equipment, well-maintained buildings, student kitchen and vegetable gardens, and 2 orchards, all within an attractive 5.1 acre rural setting. We have a strong environmental policy and on-going commitment to being a sustainable school and work closely with the community to maintain those programs. The main focus of this community involvement is the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program which also includes a student enterprise program in the form of a garden co-operative. Our P&C is very supportive and involved. Parents are very active in raising funds to assist families with transport costs for curricular and extra-curricular activities.  Meetings are very productive and focussed on developing a positive link between the school and its community. We are on working towards being recognised as a Choice Theory school with all students, staff and the school community working together to ensure a connected and safe learning environment. We focus on relationships and those things that help us live and learn well together, forming positive relationships that boost productivity, confidence and self-belief. We believe in teaching and promoting behaviours that bring people closer together. Inclusiveness is an essential feature of this rural school and essential in our success with building confidence, resilience and happiness in our students.
