Cobargo Public School

Cobargo Public School is located in the village of Cobargo on the NSW Far South Coast. The school offers extensive grounds in a rural setting. Our core values are: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. These are reinforced by our school wide Positive Behaviours For Success program. We believe that reinforcing the children for positive behaviour brings about the desired school climate. The school has a teaching principal, teaching assistant principal and two further, experienced classroom teachers. We also have a Support/Reading Recovery Teacher and Part-Time Librarian. Approximately 10% of students come from Aboriginal backgrounds. The local community is very supportive of the school. Special programs offered by the school include: Reading Recovery for students in Year One, a Student Parliament for primary aged students,inter-school debating program, a comprehensive sport program and Active After-School Program for primary aged students, reading tutor programs (eg: Multi-lit and Fast Forword,) Infants L3 Early Literacy Program, TEN (Teaching Early Numeracy)Progam and a variety of creative and performing arts opportunities. Cobargo School is also supported by the Country Areas Program, a Commonwealth Government program to support student learning outcomes in isolated rural areas, National Partnerships, a Commonwealth funded program, NORTA-NORTA funding for Aboriginal students, Priority Schools Program funding. A recent program has resulted in the development of vegetable gardens and orchard areas. Cobargo School has recently benefited from infrastructure upgrades funded by the NSW Department of Education. The upgrades have provided the school with a very appealing, natural learning environment.
