Captains Flat Public School
Captains Flat Public School, set in a rural village south east of Queanbeyan, on the Southern Tablelands, provides educational opportunities for all students Kindergarten to Year 6 in a well-resourced, caring environment. Our experienced and professional teaching staff instruct two composite classes - a K/1/2 and a 3/4/5/6. In addition, we supplement class programs and support individual students by providing addition learning support through a Learning and Support Teacher and Support Officers. We have the L3 program working effectively in our K/1/2 classroom and MULTILIT is utilised across Years 2-6. We work hard and collaboratively to individualise the support our students need in the classroom. We provide and deliver high quality teaching and learning programs focusing on literacy and numeracy. We are also able to offer a specialised music program, dance opportunities, multiple sporting opportunities and a wide range of extra-curricula activities. Technology is well catered for with a separate computer lab and we have an Interactive Whiteboard in each room. Our school offers a positive and stimulating learning environment as well as maximising the benefits of smaller class sizes and greater teacher involvement. Student performance is closely monitored and reports are made to parents and to the community on a regular basis. Our aim is to provide quality teaching and enriching programs in a safe and caring environment, and this is wonderfully supported by the school community.
