Candelo Public School staff, students and families work closely together to provide a comprehensive curriculum that fosters a love of learning; respect for self and others; and an acquisition of knowledge that will enable students to take their rightful place in their own community,and recognise their place within the wider global community. There is a consistent focus on student welfare, core values and high standards of behaviour to ensure Candelo PS is a safe and happy place where everyone has a sense of belonging. The major features of our curriculum and school culture include high academic expectations in literacy, numeracy and creativity. Other significant programs include an environmental program, inclusive creative arts and sportprograms and a strong focus on technology. The schoolstrives to achieve the goals of the Melbourne Declaration: - promoting equity and excellence - ensuring learners become successful, confident, creative and actively informed citizens. Programs are developed cooperatively with other small schools to bring a wide range of social and cultural experiences to address rural isolation factors. The school is committed to encourage active parent and community involvement in all school programs so that Candelo students, teachers and community members continue to 'Show the Way'.

Cooler Classrooms Program

The NSW Government is committed to providing students with healthy and comfortable learning environments. That’s why we’ve invested a record $500 million to provide a sustainable air conditioning program for NSW schools.

To ensure the NSW Government responds to the needs of students in the hottest parts of the State, we will provide air conditioning in classrooms and libraries at schools that experience a mean maximum January temperature of 30°C and above.

Schools that sit below 30°C will be able to apply for funding to receive air conditioning in their classrooms and libraries, allowing more schools to benefit from air conditioning than ever before.

This school is eligible to apply for funding through the Cooler Classrooms Program. Applications for the second round of funding are now closed.
