Buxton Public School

Buxton Public School is situated on a large site in rural surrounds 1.5 kilometres from the Buxton village centre. It is classified as a PP4 school and is now in its twelfth year of operation on a new site, having been established as a benchmark for affordable environmental design. The purpose of the school is to provide for the children's educational needs in a happy, stimulating and caring environment. The school has a strong focus on student welfare, consistent with the school motto 'We Care', and provides many opportunities in performance, particularly in music, and in sport, debating and public speaking. The school is capitalising on its environmentally friendly design features and broadening its environmental education focus by implementing further initiatives in this area. The staff and community work together to provide a positive learning environment that encourages the students to strive to reach their full potential in all areas of their education. The focus is on the complete development of the students - academically, physically and emotionally. Academic programs follow departmental curricula and guidelines with a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy and technology.
