Bossley Park Public School

Bossley Park Primary School was established in 1890. We have strong traditions of academic excellence, equity, values and innovation. We have a nurturing and harmonious environment which reflects our motto of 'Tolerance'. Parents are always welcome and valued as partners in their child's education. We have a very active and supportive P&C Association which meet once a month to discuss strategies to support our school's management plans.   We have an outstanding emphasis on our teachers' professional learning and quality teaching. Specialist programs which include literacy and numeracy learning blocks, student leadership, information technology, creative and expressive arts,Italian, Spanish, public speaking, debating, skipping and sport extend our students' outcomes.We have gifted and talented programs in Stage 3 mathematics, visual arts, Spanish and Italian. Our student welfare program incorporates the 'PBL' (Positive Behaviours for Learning) model where safe, active and respectful learning is emphasised. Our learning support team assists all teachers to identify students' learning needs and develop individual programs to ensure the achievement of all outcomes. We have an extensive Kindergarten transition to school program for new students and for Year 6 students entering highschool. Our school is situated on 2 hectares of land, of which three quarters are native gardens, playing fields and recreation areas. We are in Sydney's south western suburbs, next to the Western Sydney Regional Park. All of our classrooms, the hall and library are air conditioned and all classrooms and the library have interactive whiteboards. The audiovisual room in the library is set up as a connected classroom with video conferencing facilities enabling real-time communication with classrooms across the world.   We have an enrolment of 440 students and a staff of 34 including classroom teachers, support teachers, English as Second Language teachers, community language teachers, a reading recovery teacher, a teacher/librarian, school learning support officers, administration staff and a counsellor. Our students come from over 40 cultural and language backgrounds whose diversity is celebrated throughout the year with multicultural days, community days and performing arts festivals.  We are part of the PARKs family of local schools where the sharing of ideas, teaching and learning skills and collegial development are major features.
