Bogan Gate Public School

Bogan Gate Public School is situated in the village of Bogan Gate, 40 km west of Parkes. The school has a culture of continual improvement supported by a committed staff and a supportive local community. The P and C Association works collaboratively with the school to provide resources, subsidise excursions and support a wide variety of school activities. There are currently 11 students enrolled in the school who are drawn from surrounding farms and the village of Bogan Gate. Our vision statement, 'We Learn and Grow Together', reflects the strong community focus of the school. Students are encouraged to develop positive attitudes which contribute to their academic, emotional, creative, social and physical development. Our school aims to provide an effective learning environment for every child where teachers, parents and students have high expectations and all students are given opportunities to experience success and maximise achievement of outcomes. A varied range of teaching and learning strategies are used to develop each student's skills, knowledge and understandings. Student goals are negotiated between students, teachers and parents to ensure teaching and learning programs cater for individual learning needs. The school utilises outcomes based assessment, including analysis of Best Start and NAPLAN results, standardised testing, teacher observation and work samples to track student progress, report to parents and develop individual and small group programs. The integration of technology into teaching and learning activities is a high priority at Bogan Gate School. Students use computers, interactive white boards and iPods as tools for investigation, creation and publishing across all areas of the curriculum. Children are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra-curricula school and community activities including robotics and coding, University of NSW Competitions, public speaking competitions and a range of sports. Working in and with the community is a high priority. Students regularly participate in activities within the local community and invite community members to participate in activities held at school.
