Berrigan Public School

Berrigan Public School services a small rural community of approximately 1500 people.  It sits on the Aboriginal lands of the Bangerang people - 'Berrigan' in Bangerang language means 'big rocks', and these big rocks are situated at the southern entrance to the town. For well over 100 years this school has provided quality public education to the children of Berrigan and the surrounding district.  Happy and friendly students, enthusiastic and professional staff and supportive and committed parents characterize this school. 'Play your part' is the school's motto and reflects its core belief that everyone - students, staff, parents and families have a shared responsibilty to foster a safe and supported educational environment where the school's values - safe, proud, responsible and respectful, define it.  Passionate teachers, administrative and support staff, excellent resources and a supportive parent body and wider community provide an environment conducive to pursuing excellence for all. Programs, initiatives and rich, authentic learning opportunities that focus on literacy, numeracy, performing arts, the environment, emerging technologies, healthy life styles, leadership and sport are evident across the school. The school endeavours to promote a strong partnership between home and school to ensure the best possible outcomes for the students. There is strong support from the local community, whose members generously share their various skills, knowledge and talents with both staff and students. The school plays an important role in the community by being involved in community presentations, participating in ANZAC and Remembrance Day services, and visiting hospital and pre-school centres.
