Berala Public School
Berala Public School was established in 1922. With 1070 students, it is one of the largest and most diverse primary schools in NSW. The school is situated in the mid western suburbs of Sydney with 96% of students from backgrounds of languages other than English, with Chinese (40%) and Arabic (25%)speakers being the largest of over 35 cultural groups represented at the school. The school is designated as low socio-economic. The school's vision is to be a safe, caring and abundantly resourced environment which promotes a zest for life and a passion for teaching to inspire lifelong learning in all students. Our purpose is to provide stimulating and relevant programs and experiences, in line with the NSW Board of Studies curricula, that recognise the various stages of learning and guide the individual development of students towards full all-round development with positive participation within the wider community. Students are supported by a wide variety of special programs such as ESL, Community Language and Reading Recovery. Teachers also provide an extensive program of extra-curricular activities. The school has engendered and maintained very positive relationships amongst our key groups.
