Awaba Public School

Awaba School serves a small urban village on the South Western fringe of Newcastle. It has at present thirty-seven students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Awaba School currently has 2 classes, a composite K/1/2 of sixteen students and a composite 3/4/5/6 of twenty-one students. The school is a happy, quiet place where all students are treated as individuals and are encouraged to achieve at their own level of personal excellence. Awaba School has 2 permanent teachers as well as a part-time teacher who takes Library, Craft, French and HSIE. Awaba Public School has a focus on providing quality programs in Literacy and Mathematics. The school prides itself on its ability to integrate the teaching of these and other programs with computers and other technology, using these as a tool for investigation, creation and publishing. Awaba School has an active Parents and Citizens and is well supported by a community which is very proud of the school and what it achieves. Awaba School provides opportunities for all students in a variety of sports through a comprehensive PE program which aims at teaching the children the skills and rules needed to play major games. The school enters teams in local sporting competitions annually.
