The NSW Government is investing $6 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, a record $847 million is being spent on school maintenance over four years, along with a record $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
An upgrade is being planned for the Hunter School of Performing Arts. The project will include enhanced:
multi-purpose centre with gymnasium, hall and performance space
performing arts workshops
dance and drama studios
bathroom and change room facilities
outdoor games courts.
The concrete dome will be removed as part of the works.
The development application has been approved.
The design and construct contractor has been appointed.
Construction works are well progressed.

How can I get involved?
We are committed to working together with our school communities and other stakeholders to deliver the best possible learning facilities for students.
Drop-in session were held for students, teachers, parents and carers, and other interested people in our community. These sessions provided an opportunity for the community to give feedback and discuss any concerns.
Neighbouring businesses were also invited to attend. To date, feedback received has been very positive.
