Hunter school takes centre stage with $14 million upgrade now complete

Students at Hunter School of the Performing Arts will go back to school next week in brand new facilities, with the school’s major upgrade now complete thanks to a $14 million investment by the NSW Government.

The upgrade includes a world-class new performing arts facility, a new gymnasium and outdoor sports courts.

The facility also includes a full performance stage with large LED screens, two dance studios and a drama workshop.

There are two more school upgrades currently in progress in the Newcastle area with Newcastle East Public School under construction and planning underway for the Newcastle Education Precinct.

Hunter School of the Performing Arts upgrade is one of 17 new and upgraded schools opening across NSW for the first day of the new school year.

The NSW Government is investing $6 billion over four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, $847 million is being spent on school maintenance over four years.
