As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the 2025-26 Budget is delivering $2.1 billion for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

A project is underway to redevelop Gillieston Public School by replacing the demountables on the existing site with modern classrooms and ancillary spaces.

The upgraded school is scheduled to open early in 2027 and has been master planned for future growth.

Further updates regarding the Gillieston Public School redevelopment and new public preschool will be released as the project progresses.

Progress summary

We are pleased to share that the construction contract for the redevelopment works has been awarded to A W Edwards Pty Limited.
The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) planning application was publicly exhibited from 21 February to 20 March 2025 and is now being assessed by the department’s Planning Assessment team. You can view the plans on the NSW Planning Portal for Division 5.1 (Part 5 Activities).
A community information session was held on 16 September 2024. The event provided the school community and neighbouring residents with the opportunity to view the proposed site concept designs and talk with the project team.
