Yawarra Community School (Dubbo Networked Specialist School) completed project 2019

We have converted Dubbo West Infants School into a Networked Specialist School (NSS), called Yawarra Community School. 

Yawarra Community School assists students with disabilities, providing support via personalised learning, specialist services such as speech and occupational therapists and social benefits.

Yawarra Community School’s facilities cater for up to 40 students from K-12.

The new Yawarra Community school at the old Dubbo West Infant School site was built over three stages and is now complete. 

The Centre for Effective Reading was also relocated from Buninyong Public School to Yawarra Community School. The Centre of Effective Reading spaces at Buninyong Public School were repurposed with two new learning spaces.

The benefits

  • Consolidation of Dubbo West Infant and Public School with a new preschool.
  • New specialist school that includes:
    • Four new learning spaces.
    • A special programs facility.
    • A new administration area.
    • A gym and outdoor areas.
    • New hydrotherapy pool.
    • Adjoining accessible parking.
    • External play facilities and landscaped grounds.
