More open, green spaces these school holidays

Release date: 15 September 2021

The NSW Department of Education’s Share our Space program turns hundreds of school grounds into safe, green spaces for the entire community to use freely for exercise, every school holidays.

Schools are at the heart of our communities, and by sharing our space, we can offer more than education for students and families across the state. We can give the whole community a safe place to maintain their health and wellbeing by being outdoors.

As our state experiences extended restrictions, access to additional open exercise spaces within your own LGA is more important than ever, especially for those living in densely populated communities.

Not all schools will be open but anyone who is interested in using school grounds can look for a Share our Space sign at their local school or visit the Share our Space website to see if their school is participating.

Share our Space opens participating schools to the community during the school holidays from Monday, 20 September to Friday 1 October, including weekends from 8am to 5pm.

The Share Our Space program complies with NSW COVID-19 public health advice. We acknowledge that a number of local area restrictions apply and encourage everyone to adhere to the restrictions outlined for their LGA and follow the NSW Government's Public Health Orders and restrictions.
