Taren Point Public School provides a safe, caring and stimulating educational environment with an emphasis on quality teaching. The school's positive student welfare programs are designed to equip students with the skills to succeed in a changing and at times, challenging world. Our highly professional, dedicated teachers provide quality educational programs, which meet student needs and develop the talents of each individual child. Staff ensure all students take personal responsibility for their own learning and behaviour and build on the school's ethos of being safe, respectful learners. We ensure that every student at Taren Point is known, valued and cared for. Our students excel in their academic, cultural and sporting achievements. A consistent focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students is supported by excellent classroom practice, a strong Learning and Support Team and weekly teacher professional learning workshops. Student participation in a wide variety of performing arts and sporting programs is encouraged. Our school is a hub for French language learning in our community and we offer many opportunities including a French Immersion program, before school French lessons, French conversation classes, a French playgroup and a bilingual French program for toddlers and preschool children. A collaborative partnership exists within the school between staff and the parent community. Teaching and learning is enhanced through parental involvement in the P and C, a range of successful fundraising efforts and parent assistance within the classrooms. By working together, our school is a true learning community. We are 'The Pride of the Point'.

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
